After the successful delivery of the Draw for Life programme in 2016, 8 new learners from Aloe High School, Matthew Goniwe High School, and Hout Bay High School were chosen to participate in the second round of the course in 2017.
Draw for Life is an innovative initiative developed by Animation SA and is proudly supported by Triggerfish Studios and The Animation School in Cape Town. The programme introduced talented learners from disadvantaged backgrounds to South Africa’s growing animation industry and mentored them through a series of intense drawing workshops.
Learners attended a series of weekend sessions over three months at The Animation School in town, as well as Triggerfish’s own head office on their farm. Each session was delivered by active industry professionals from Cape Town; students also got a chance to work with real models as part of their drawing exercises.Throughout the programme, this year’s learners were paired with first-year students from The Animation School to provide them with further guidance and mentorship. Each learner also received a stationary pack with a sketchpad, pencils and an information guide.
PASCAP Trust is proud to be a part of this second #DrawForLife programme and would like to thank all parties involved for helping to inspire and pave the way for our youth to enter the wonderful world of animation.
